I love Picasa!!!
I am spending wayyyyy too much time playing around with pictures. But the editing tools are too cool.

It doesn't. I wouldn't really consider it photo editing software, more like photo management software. Sure, it's got basic stuff, but that's not what you would primarily work in. It allows you to organize your photos into virtual albums, and has a timeline feature for scrolling through in chronological order. I believe it's also good at searching and sorting by metadata (gotta try that out).
It's good because I have TONS (gigs upon gigs) of photos and it helps organize them without me really organizing them, if you know what I mean.
It's also faster than browsing your photo files through windows explorer.
