I know I'm obsessing but TJ started antibiotics Wednesday and still has a fever
I called the dr. yesterday and he told me he had a bad double ear infection and tonsilitis with pus. He said I need to give him 4 or 5 days on the antibiotics which he started Wednesday. Today is day 4. Earlier today his temp was normal, 99 so I though he was fine. I just checked it again and it went back up to 101.8. I am starting to get really upset.
I am praying tomorrow the fever is gone because it is day 5.
He is acting totally normal and playing. He has taken longer naps because he isnt sleeping well because he has a stuffy nose and cough too. He is eating but not the same but probably because the medicine is upsetting his stomach.
He is on cefdinir which he was on last month for tonsilitis and it worked great. His fever was gone after 3 days I think. I hate him having a fever this long.

My dd has really long fevers. Last year it went on for 12 days! Maybe it just takes a while for his body to get his temp down. If he is acting normal, I would not worry too much

DD had a double ear infection (no tonsilitis) a few weeks ago and ped had me bring her back in when she still had a fever after 2 days. He changed the prescription...and by the next day she was better.

Try not to worry. Call ped if his temp is still up tomorrow. I know Thomas didn't responde to amoxicillian for ear infection so they changed presription to Cefzil. But they didn't do it because of fever, it was because he wasn't sleeping well due to the pain.

The temp. even though he still has a fever isn't going as high. I gave him motrin at 5 and put him to bed at 8 and it was 98.9, the lowest it's been. Even with the motrin/tylenol it wasn't going below 99.9-100.1 the past few days. So I am hoping this is it. If he still has it tomorrow I'll call the ped.

it must be viral, viral does not respond to abx. Fever with a viral infection can last anywhere from 3-7 days

He definetely has a double ear infection and tonsilitis but also has a cold and cough so I think it may be a combination.
