I have another car registeration and license question
I am gonna try hard not to sound confusing so here it goes: When we purchased our homeowner's insurance we also purchased our auto and it was effective on 6/30 for NJ. When we canceled our old auto insurance they didn't inform us that we should hold onto it until we get the car registered in NJ. Well this past Friday we we received a letter from NY DMV stating that our license's (registered to both of us) will be suspended on 08/09 because we have a registered car with no insurance and that is illegal in NY. We went to DMV to change everything over on Saturday including our licneses. We were able to register my car because we had the title (we are financing it) but could not do DH's because we did not have the title. In NJ the DMV needs to hold ownership when you register. So they gave me a form to send to the bank to get the title sent to DMV but it will obvisouly be after 08/09 when they receive it so that means our NY licneses will be suspended even though we surrended them when we got our NJ one's. When I finally do turn in the NY plates will that suspension come off or does it not even matter since we are not NY resiedents anymore.
I hope this makes sense

Re: I have another car registeration and license question
in NYS you aren't suppose to cancel your insurance until you turn in your plates
when you turn in your plates- they give you a green card that you fax to the insurance company- I am surprised you were able to cancel the insurance with out doing it this way
I had to take car of this for my Dad and my sister this year- who both moved OOS
I will take a trip to the DMV sooner rather then later
