I have a UTI... & a question

I thought I had a UTI (I have gotten them on and off throughout my adult life) and I went to the "after hours" clinic in my town.

The NP that I saw prescribed me Macrobid, a category B drug.

I am a little nervous to take it - has anyone on here taken it? Did you have side effects?

Also, shouldn't my Dr's office be re-testing my urine to make sure the infection has gone away? When I called them today they didn't mention anything to me.

My internest put me on with my dd a week before i knew i was prego. Found out after the UTI was a sign that i was prego. I told my Midwife when i found out i was prego and she said it was okay.

I would call your OB first before taking and okay it with them.

I got a UTI at 10 weeks and my OB put me on Macrobid - no side effects.

I believe it's fine to take but I would definitely clear it with your OB first in case he/she prefers a different antibiotic for pregnant women and/or to treat UTIs.

It's probably fine, but you should clear ANY drug prescribed to you by any dr. through your OB first before you take it. It's important that your OB knows what you're on.

When I had mine, my OB prescribed Ampicillin.

I was on a heavy dose of amoxicillin prescribed by my midwife for a UTI early in my pregnancy.....whatever you are taking MAKE SURE you are eating yogurt and/or taking acidopholus!!

I was eating yogurt and taking the acidopholus and still got a WICKED yeast infection from teh antibiotics....
