I have a problem...
So, I've been amping up my workouts... running at least 3 days a week, and on off days I do other cardio like the elliptical, for 45 minutes.
For once, I'm actually sweating!! Yay. But, the downside is that I'm now RAVENOUS and eating everything in sight, which, of course, offsets all my efforts.
Did this happen to anyone else? Any suggestions on how I can curb the insane appetite?

Re: I have a problem...
What do you eat prior to working out?
I would try a mix of carbs, protein and a little fat: carbs give you energy and protein (and the fat) help that energy last. A good breakfast is whole wheat toast with peanut butter. It's pretty popular prerun snack among runners (along with bananas).
My trainer always reccomended eating fruit post-workout along with a little bit of protein.

Re: I have a problem...
I'm the same way, when I workout really intensely I get soooo hungry. The key is to make sure you're fueling your body and not just eating anything. High protein foods are key, as well as foods that will fill you up. Citrus fruits will make you feel full without eating a lot, but if you're body actually needs nutrition, you'll still be hungry. You should be eating small meals throughout the day, rather than 3 large ones, so you are consistantly fueling your body, and you're never running on empty. Also make sure that you are drinking enough water. Being dehydrated will make you feel hungrier than you are. Your body knows its lacking something, and your mind will tell you to eat when you really need to drink. Make sure you drink a glass of water everytime you eat. That should help.

I usually workout at night after the girls go to sleep, about a half hour after dinner, which is usually a piece of fish and a veggie. For example, last night, we had bean soup with some mozzarella, grilled tilapia and brussell sprouts.
I'm not finding I'm hungry after my workout, it's the next day, from 9am-1pm, where I just can't seem to stop eating...

Hmmm, maybe I do need more H2O now that I'm working out harder. I'll try that and see if it helps some... thanks!
