I hate this entire process:

This is supposed to be exciting and something to look forward to. We are both so stressed we can't even deal with each other or anything else. The mortgage company SUUCKS -- well, at least the people who handle the file do. They have lost about five or more documents that we have given them. Then, we had to give the stuff to them AGAIN. This is ridiculous and now they are saying they can't do the closing tomorrow because they can't finish whatever they need on their end.

I'm so annoyed - if you didn't lose all that stuff and if you had been on the ball since day one we would have closed weeks ago. Now, I called all the utilities, scheduled the movers for this weekend based on the fact that we would close tomorrow. I rearranged my entire work schedule and this whole week DH is off and we said, from day one, we wanted it for this week because of that.

It's gotten to the point where I don't even care anymore.

I'm so over it. Chat Icon

Oh how this sounds soooo familiar. Breathe. They all stink no matter who you use. We had such annoying issues and we bought the home from my mom !!! The things they wanted were ridiculous, the things they needed us to resend were annoying but... it is worth it. And it will work out. Never trust the closing date until your attorney is on the phone with you saying this is what you are bringing tomorrow at this time.... it will work out.

Re: I hate this entire process:

That's the most annoying part!! The amount of notice my atty is going to give me to let me know when we are going to close is like AN HOUR. How can I do that with work?! There's no way! And for DH, now we have to have afternoon closings scheduled because once he goes back to work on Monday he cannot miss a single day due to anything. So, we have to have it at 3:30 or whenever. Which is very difficult. That is why I told them all from day one to make it for this week and they just couldn't do it. Amazing!

How the they managed to lose all of that information is beyond my comprehension -- and to think that our personal crap is floating around in space somewhere is really comforting!

Re: I hate this entire process:

I had a problem with just about EVERY person/professional involved when we were buying our house. The only person I liked was the previous owner but she passed away a week before we were scheduled to close originally which is actually what led to half the problems.

I cried, many times. DH and I got in stupid fights, many times. I thought we were going to be homeless once because they found a new tenant for our apartment but our closing date was pushed back for the millionth time. They stopped offering our mortgage halfway through so we had to do everything over again. We even had to go to closing twice because the bank screwed up the first one (which happened months after the original, original date!). We paid lots of extra fees - two appraisals, two title closers, etc.

In the end it was a 6 month, very expensive, very stressful process.

We closed one year ago this month, and in the end it was worth it. I am still bitter that I never got to experience it as an exciting/happy event, never had a champagne toast or took pictures of our first meal in the house or anything because we got the keys just 4 days before we had to move in (and had to paint/rip up carpet/clean in between).

But we did it. We survived the nightmare. We are homeowners. And we take pride in the work we have done and will do to it and still feel it was the right decision, despite everything that happened.

Hang in there! Chat Icon

Holy shiit I should sooooo not be complaining!!!

THANK YOU - you put it into perspective for me.

I rarely have a pity-party but I was just sad.

In the grand scheme of things, my minor issues are just a part of life.

Thank you!

Oh you are entitled to a pity party! It is a stressful process 99% of the time really! I don't know anyone who really had a fabulous, easy time when buying their first home!!

Just wanted to let you know that no matter how tough the process is, in the end you'll be happy you did it! Chat Icon

same here! I'm surprised they gave you a closing date if the bank is still working on their end. That leaves you zero time to get what checks you need.

Sorry but I have to agree....I have never heard of a closing date being set before you have the clear to close. The attorney never should have set this

Re: I hate this entire process:

i guess this is just another reason why my attorney is the WORST ATTORNEY EVERRRRRR. i didn't realize that we weren't supposed to have a closing date yet - we figured everything was set b/c we got a call to schedule it. he knew we wanted this week and called us to say we needed to set everything up. we had no clue. the good news is that the mortgage company said we should be more than cleared and good to go by early next week. so we are shooting for april 7th as the new closing -- which happens to be my birthday! maybe that happened for a reason! Chat Icon

I have at least 1 pity party per day.....reading other posts and realizing that everyone has their own sagas makes me feel better.....it's not easy for anyone, but having the support is awesome!

Re: I hate this entire process:

SO true about the support!

It really helps and helped me feel better to vent.

It did help me put things into perspective though, which I needed.

I feel a lot better and I think this happened for the right reasons - I'm sure when we close it'll be perfect timing in it's own way. Chat Icon
