I HATE my husband's boss!!!!!!
Seriously, could he be any more of a d!ck?!?!?!
DH has a lot of medical problems. post-Guillian-Barre syndrome (he was paralized at 25, and is rehabilitated now), severe asthma, and really bad acid reflux.
He was told that he needed the surgery for the reflux in June or July (I don't remember) and his boss told him he needed to wait until Oct. because of everyone's scheduled vacas....
His reflux is so bad that he barely sleeps at night because he can't lay down. He sleeps on the couch most nights so that he can sit up but it is uncomfortable and he doesn't get a good nights sleep..
Yesterday he fell esleep at his desk
He was called into a meeting today by his boss and he told him that "he can't let his medical problems interfere with his job"
Seriously can he even SAY THAT??!?!?!?!
He can't help it if he has a lot of med things going on right now and if he didn't have to hold the surgery off to appease his boss, he might not be as bad right now.
I want to sue the mo-fo or get some kind of employee police after him for harassment....

That's got to be violating something.... that is totally wrong! It's not like he's taking off because he's selling the house, or you miss him, so he has to comfort you, etc. It's a medical condition! Nobody schedules medical problems....

Yea, but is there anything we can do about it? I wanted to tell my DH that he wanted the statement in writing...because his boss would never admit that he said something like that if it ever came down to it.
Same boss that when my BIL was working there (DH got his brother the job) and then ended up leaving, the boss took DH into a meeting and said that he felt that DH was responsible for BIL's actions because he brought him into the company....
....and he wanted DH to "talk" to his brother to drop the unemployment case....
I wish my DH was confident enough to look for a job elsewhere.

Your DH should speak the HR dept in his company. I believe it was illegal to tell your husband to put off his surgery until a better time. I equate that to telling a woman not to get pg until month x so they could coordinate the maternity leave. Assuming his boss is not a doctor, he has no right whatsoever to make this call. If I were your DH, I would schedule the surgery and if his boss takes issue, get an attorney. Document everything - dates, times, contexts of conversations, etc.
Good luck and sorry you even have to deal with this.

There is no HR dept in his company. It is a small company ... only 7 people work in the office.....

I would just have him schedule the surgery.. .Im sorry but I think a medical condition is more important than a persons vacation.
