I hate EVERY house I see online....
We just did the paperwork with our real estate agent last night to put our townhome on the market. I knew we were going to eventually so i've been looking online at houses in our area (south FL) for a while and I hate everything! They all seem the same, such boring open layouts, ugly tile floors, no backyard, houses on top of eachother, no trees in the neighborhoods UGH. I want an old NY home with wood floors and some character!!!!! 
We can usually see potential (we did with our home now) but the selection is the pits right now. Did anyone else feel that way when they were looking online?? Maybe once we start going around in person we'll feel different?
Maybe i'm just watching too much house hunters.

look in the older sections on delray, delray lakes- I love the old FL style homes
I also went on a tour in North Palm Beach- all older homes- stunning

I always say that a picture may be worth a thousand words, but seeing it in person is priceless.
You can tell certain things from photos, of course, but I think it's really hard to get a sense of the layout, room size, and the overall vibe of the home (and the neighborhood) just from looking online. So many of my customers have fallen "in love" with a home online, only to be sorely disappointed when they've seen it in person. And vice-versa -- I've had to BEG people to look at homes they overlooked or dismissed online, that turn out to be the ideal home for them. Personally, I bought a home that I only looked at because our realtor made us (back before my real estate days).
So I would definitely keep an open mind until you actually start looking at places with your own eyes... only then can you really envision the potential. And I recall you posting photos of your own home, and you did a beautiful job there, so I am sure you will find something you can work with!

We'd need to triple our budget! And the schools are horrible there... really stinks that we have such a limited area to look.

When I saw the online listing of my house I didn't like it and just passed it. The RA took us to it anyway. It's a colonial and we were looking for ranches. We fell in love. I like the layout and flow and location. You definitely need to see homes in person. Good luck.

I have not seen a single house in my price range that has made me want to go see it. It is so annoying. The agents keep saying there is ample inventory but I beg to differ.

I'm right there with you! We were looking for a home in palm city, and everything was so boring or outdated looking. Every house has hideous tile! I got so tired of looking, we just settled for a house that I don't really care for.

I hated my house in photos. I didn't even want to look at it! The pictures made it look run down and gross, and I told my husband we should just skip it, but our agent insisted. SO glad she did! It looked completely different in person, it was just the photos making it look bad. Don't get discouraged!

DH's cousins live in palm city, they looked for 3 years before finding a house!
It's funny, if you don't live down here you think OMG the houses are so big, you get so much for your $$ but once you live here and really see what's out there they are ALL THE SAME! Plus, all the newer ones are built on 0 lot lines so they are on top of eachother... and i'm really not into gated communities but they are all gated. We're screwed.  I'm thinking we're going to have to eventually just settle like you did, all I want is a backyard at this point, if our home had that we wouldn't be selling.

Thanks, we definitely won't have as big of a budget as last time to do updates (and hopefully the next house will have a kitchen already) but it'll be fun anyway!
