I hate doing freakin report cards!
It just blows.....having to write out comments

Do you have to write comments in longhand? Ours are done on bubble sheets, but when I started with the DOE in 1996, my school still had everything done in longhand- I had to wait for the subject teachers to fill in the grades on the rating sheet, then I had to fill in my homeroom kids' report cards by hand and write comments.  It was such a breeze when I went to another school (in 1999 it was STILL done by hand!) where it was automated. Such a difference!

Ugh! I feel your pain! i had to do those tise weekend! I miss my old district - everything was done using IGPro- a computerized gradebook. I didn't have to average, bubble, or comment on anything.
I want it back :(

I use the same 2 or 3 comments, and just tailor it to the kid - otherwise you will DRIVE YOURSELF NUTSO!!!!!!!!!!

I do them for the ENTIRE school And they are LONG comments. No bubbles to fill in for me.

One of the girls in my school types them up on labels and then sticks the labels on. We teach in NYC so they aren't carbon copy anyway, and it makes them neater and more professional looking anyway IMO. Plus you can fit more in the space --- and just copy & paste some generic things, like having them read and write more at home, stuff like that.

I type them up and cut the comments out and just paste them on. It does look neater and I think is easier too. Especially after they are reviewed and srutinzized by admin. I also think it is more professional looking too. You would think they would have a better system at this point but I really can't complain. I don't have to do them until next trimester b/c I teach Kindergarten.

We just went scantron-ized this year!!! While I actually miss comments (because I always wrote really nice ones  ), it didn't take as long!!!

I just finished doing our progress reports and that was bad enough. We have another month b4 rept cards. The comments are the worst!
