I had my shower.. a little long!
I went to work on Friday after my doctor appointment thinking that someone was up to something. Well, I was right..my job threw me a baby shower! They decorated the conference room, ordered food and had lots of gifts! I knew they were throwing me a shower, but not a shower like THIS...i figured cake and a gift card maybe.. boy was i shocked! On Saturday, was my baby shower for my friends and family and once again, more gifts for our ! We had a nice time and when DH and I got home and unloaded the car, we unpacked all of the clothes and as exhausted as I was, i divided up the clothes by sizes and Ive come to find out I hardly have any clothes for 0-3 months!!!!!! Not just that but I didnt get a single baby bottle! I also did not get any sheets either! These were on my babies r us registry and everything, but I was pretty surprised that I did not get these "necessities". So today Im off to babies r us once DH gets up from sleeping. Does anyone recommend any "necessities" for the first few months and stuff that I will need pretty much right away? Id like to gather a list! TIA!
(i posted pics in an album on here from the shower.. wasnt sure how to make them small enough for the post!)

Your cake was adorable! One thing I suggest...don't buy too many 0-3 clothes. You will get a ton of newborn clothes after the baby is born. Also, onesies and sleepers are usually what my boys were in for the first few months and with the summer coming, the baby will probably spend more time in onesies. Make sure you have a ton of burp clothes.

How fun to have two showers in two days!
But honestly, a lot of people don't get bottles and the "practical" things at their shower. Think about it, do you want to buy that for someone? No, you want to buy something cute!!
But I disagree with the PP, I'd buy some 0-3 and some NB clothes. Yes, you will get some when people visit after the baby is born, but you need stuff in the meantime. And my DS was 6lbs, 11oz and wore NB for 3 months +! I had a ton of 3-6 clothes and he didn't wear those til he was about 4 months old!

How exciting!! Great pictures!! I would make sure you have onesies in size NB (just 2 packs or so) and then more in size 0-3. Depending how big your baby will be its a good idea to get them in both sizes. Makes sure you have receiving blankets or a Swaddle me blanket so you can swaddle the baby when you get back from the hospital. Sheets are a must - both for the crib and bassinet or pack and play. Bottles are a must as is a canister of formula (not sure if you are planning to BF or not but its a good idea to have formula on hand just in case). You should also have Mylicon (sorry, not sure of spelling drops (in case of gas), diaper rash cream, and obviously plenty of diapers and wipes. Baby mittens were a MUST for me for the first 3 weeks or so being that the baby cannot control their little arms and hands and their fingers seem to find their eyes every time. Baby socks and caps too - especially as the weather gets warm and the Ac gets turned on - their head and feel will still stay warm. Washcloths are also a must for the first weeks since you will be giving "sponge baths" till the belly button falls off - as well as Baby Wash and Shampoo. AND BURP CLOTHS!!! You never know what will come out once they burp!!!
That's all I can think of for now. HAVE FUN SHOPPING!!!! Feel free to FM if you have any questions!!!
