I had Lamaze yesterday!
It was very informative.
Though I am even more afraid of labor now, after basically being briefed on how much pain I will be in. I knew that, but just now it feels more scary and real.
Can I just say HOLY COW St. Charles L&D rooms. The bed has a headboard. It's all mohagany furniture. Even the scale thing that they put baby on has a mohogany base. Very fancy. Looks like a hotel room. Where torture happens.
I think it was worth the money, but not so much for the information, more for the experience.

Ooh very fancypants. I like it!
I read over the weekend in one of my bazillion baby books that ignorance regarding L&D can actually make the experience more painful/unpleasant. I'm not sure how true that is but it could very well be...so maybe them describing how much pain you will be in actually helped.

I concur.
She kept stressing how important it is to be relaxed, and I'm sure if I had no picture painted of my innevitable pain, then I would be more stressed, thinking something is wrong with me.
Though I do still think that in liu of Demerol, I should be offered a fatty.

They did- and can I tell you, I went in 100% for epidural. Now I'm afraid of it.
Seriously- my birth plan was a piece of paper with "DRUGS" written on it.
But now I'm afraid that it will slow down labor, and I've deiced to wait as long as possible before taking it. Still taking it, though.

this was my birth plan as well...and they totally scared the h e l l out of me, I've decided to try to wait it out as well. My poor child is going to come into the world to a choir of curse words

I forgot to add- she really stressed how you should stay home as long as possible, since St. Charl;es won't allow you anything via mouth once you're in. But at home you can have clear liquids, and take baths, and walk around in your comfort place.
And that that first phase of labor can last 8 hours.

EXACTLY why I went the route I did.
I've been begging for drugs ever since I gave birth and people are STILL ignoring my request.  I think I've earned it.
