I had a sonogram today...
because I was supposed to get AF by friday...they found a large cyst on my left ovary they also took blood since I thought I had not ovulated but I had...so now they want to wait a week and do another sonogram....they dont want me to take provera since I had ovulated...is there a reason why I cant take provera if I have a cyst? Could the clomid have caused this? I feel really down since this is putting a halt on our TTC...I want to just crawl into bed and come out in a week.
Any advice???

Re: I had a sonogram today...
Sorry about the cyst. Unfortunately it is something that I have been dealing with for a couple of years now. There can be many causes to why cysts develop, and sometimes there is just no reason to it, as I have been told. I have had 2 laparoscopies to have a 6cm cyst removed on my right ovary. After the last lap, I went back to the RE to try to move on to IVF and don't you know it, that it is back. We decided to not touch it and just deal with it there.
The most common cysts are endometriomas, which is what I have. Some of them go away on their own, unfortunately mine does not. Hopefully it is just fluid filled cyst, that can pass with AF. Has he spoken about the possiblity of a laparoscopy?

They said I need to come back in a week for another sonogram to monitor the cyst. They said it was fluid filled...
I dont understand why I cant take provera with the cyst though?

Re: I had a sonogram today...
Not sure about the provera, to be honest with you. It might have to do with the additional hormones and the doctor wanting to get a better idea of what type of cyst (functional vs. non-functional) they are working with. Is this the first you hear of having a cyst, did any other US show any cysts before? If so, then your body probably gets rid of them on their own. I get cysts (smaller) ones on my left, but thankfully those seem to pass with AF. The right one is the stubborn one that just sits there

Re: I had a sonogram today...
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 13 but this is the 1st time I have had an U/S....thinking back I probably have had cysts that have ruptured and I just thought I was having the worst menstrual cramps EVER!!! I guess I am going to wait it out and see what the U/S shows next week...its just frustrating that we were on a roll with the TTC and we hit this wall...sucks to have IF issues.
Thanks for responding

Re: I had a sonogram today...
I often got cysts during my fertility cycles. When I was on clomid it was a real problem and we had to cancel a couple of cycles. The hormones make the cysts bigger and may cause them to burst which is why they often stop all meds. I know how much this sucks

You're sure you ovulated, right? They probably want to see if AF will come naturally before giving you the provera.
I had cysts- a fluid filled and a blood filled one. I just went to the doc today and they finally went away. The cysts are really common with fertility drugs- I've had them in the past and had to skip a cycle because of them.
