I feel so accomplished!!!!

Thank you to everyone who helped out when I asked how to make baby food...I made butternut squash today for Rocco and he LOVED it! it was so easy and I was able to make two ice cube trays of it so I can use it throughout the month.

I had butterflies in my stomach b/c I was so excited...I know, I'm a dorkChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon but it feels so good!!!

I asked my husb if he ever expected me to be such a good mom and he said yes, but I'm surprised at myself b/c I never (before preg) thought about breastfeeding and certainly never thought about pureeing my own food...

I owe a lot of it to the dedicated girls of LIF who are supportive and encouraging! TY TY TYChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

YAY Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon That is wonderful! I have to laugh b/c you sound just like me!

So I have a q for you about the butternut squash - I had such a problem making this - it was SO HARD to cut - did this mean it wasn't ripe enough? How can I tell if it is ripe enough? Chat Icon

i had no clue on ripeness- i picked the two that looked the least banged up. it took a while to cut in 1/2 w/a large butcher knife, but once i got it in half, no problem afterward. then i put it face down in a pyrex baking dish w/ 1-2 inches of water and baked it at 400 for 40 mins - it came right out w/a spoon and into the puree machine...so fun and easy!!!

So when you cut it in half it was very hard? Also was the part not by the seeds hard before you cooked it?

oops - scoop out the seeds before you put the squash down in the water. I only cut it in 1/2 then scooped out seeds and after it cooked, scooped out the "meat" for the puree machine
