I don't wish upon my worst enemy...
to be the only one with a child in a family where said child is the first grandchild on both sides and your parents all live close by.
It's just cruel at times.

Try this: not only is ds the first and only grandchild on both sides, but my parents live DOWNSTAIRS from us...it really is a blessing, since dh and i get to have a life and go out and do things, but it's also a curse, since if a couple of hrs go by, my mom will go crazy if she doesn't spend time with ds. DH is annoyed whenever she's around so much but get this: my mom cooks for us, does ALL our laundry, and if i need something, they are there...and the best part is, we pay no rent since they own the building and that's the reason we moved in one of the apts in the first place, to save up...so i'm lucky, i count my blessings every minute, but it can get annoying

I am right there with ya!! When I became preg. I thought this was a good thing having the only grandchild on both sides (with no potential for another one by anyone else, anytime in the future) Soon thereafter it all began.....

I live this nightmare every day! And the grandparents on both sides (thankfully I must add) watch her for us when we work... just adds to the piece of cake of sanity.

OMG!!! I have my parents coming over for 2 weeks soon. I don't wish that on my worse enemy. 4 adults in a tiny 3 bedroom house! I feel for ya sister. But at least yours can go home in the evenings!!

i totally know how you feel... i am all of the above (our apartment is in my parents' house and FH's mom lives close enough) PLUS there is a father(DD's bio dad) and his whole family close by that like to pretend they are wonderful grandparents when it comes to holidays and showing DD off.
