I don't really know where to post this
This is my first post on this board. I feel lost on the TTC board bc I feel like I'm not even TTC since I haven't been ovulating. I came off the pill in November and had irregular cycles. In March I had bloodwork done and all came back in the normal range but borderline and OB found small cysts on both ovaries. In April DH and I decided to start TTC. By June I had still not gotten a + opk although I did have AF. OB determined I did not ovulate and said I prob have PCOS. He said we could try clomid when ready. I wasnt ready for that so DH and I continued trying. That brings us to this month when I finally...for the first time got a but ended up with BFN and AF. DH also went for an SA and I just got the results. Count was very good but he has a slight morphology issue.
I feel so lost. I don't know what to do. I want to be pregnant more than anything, but I think I am afraid to start down this infertility road. I want to be able to conceive on our own, but I think I know it's not going to happen.
How did you decide to finally go see an RE? Did you OB suggest it?
If you read this far, thank you! You girls are all so strong with all you go through. I really admire your strength and determination.

Re: I don't really know where to post this
I knew I had endometriosis so they said to TTC for 3 months then move to meds. I think I waited 4 months then went to a RE. I was glad I did because they are more proactive.
It can't hurt to see a RE, especially if you arent Oing on your own. If you have PCOS, you might need meds but the RE will run tests and monitor you better than an OBGYN. Maybe they will let you be monitored without meds first if you arent ready to make the jump.
It's totally your journey and your choice, but I knew I didn't want to waste my time TTC when I was told there was an issue.
That being said, I know 2 people with PCOS who were told they would have issues getting pregnant and they did not. So, depending on your age, you can wait it out a few more months since you haven't been TTC that long.

Re: I don't really know where to post this
Well you already know my story for the most part, but when my ob diagnosed pcos, she did not recommend i see a fertility specialist. I HIGHLY recommend seeing a specialist, especially if you are committed to getting pregnant. The obs do no monitor you as much as you need, and REs do! Plus they won't do all the testing you might need to diagnose all your issues.
DH was not fully on board when I started with the RE because he didnt grasp the scope of the problem. He soon realized that there was pretty much no hope in us getting pregnant without help since I never ovulated on my own and I have some immune issues. So we took a fairly aggressive route (although relative common place in the IF world). So far, I'm still pregnant!
Its a HUGE committment but you do what you have to do. Hopefully it will go very quickly for you, if you decide to go that route.

AHHHHH!!! Congrats!!! How did I miss that post?! That is so exciting!
Do I need to get approval from my OB to see an RE?

Re: I don't really know where to post this
do you need referrals with your insurance? if not..then you can just call on your own. but i would check with insurance.
this is how i feel and felt. you already know you should see a re bc you are asking kwim? its just hard to make that leap bc it seems soo daunting. but for me at least...i knew i would just be mad at myself if i procrastinated or didnt get the proper care. if nothing is wrong...then better safe than sorry. but if there is an issue...isnt it better to know now and be able to fix or work with it? good luck!!! xox

Re: I don't really know where to post this
Thanks! Do you normally need referrals thru your insurance? Not sure if you have the same GHI as me but if you do, you dont need any sort of preapproval. Just call the RE and make an appt. GL

Re: I don't really know where to post this
Thank you for your responses. I know its the right thing to do. Just a hard step to take! I have GHI and I usually don't need referrals. Thanks again girls and good luck to all of you

Re: I don't really know where to post this
if u have not been ovulating i would make the step to a RE
it suucks to know it cannot be done naturally..i was sooo mad at my body for not letting me get pregnant and then if i did hold on to it..
but if i could take back the months and months of winging it or just seeing my ob i would cause it was just wasted time
i wish it coudl be easy like it is for so many, but for some of us it is not..being able to have a child is such a gift and some just dont realize how lucky they are to be able to
i went from being mad at my body for not doing it naturally to being mad at my body for not being able to do it and hold it with meds..now i am just mad
why am i on month 18 and people get a bfp after 3 months? who knows? everyone has a path to get there and some are just harder than others
it is a hrd step but i promise u it is the step in the right direction
best of luck to you!
