i don't like the Brazilian!
I think i'm the only one out there who got this straightening done and who doesn't like it
I had it done in July - and i hate it. I can't wait for it to wear off. I decided to stop using the special shampoo and just go back to regular shampoo in the hopes it wears off quicker.
My hair is sort of fine, but i have a lot of it. It's naturally wavy and i have long layers. I got the straightening done in the hopes that it would prevent my hair from getting frizzy in the summer humidity, and would stay nice and straight for me (like when i get it blown out, i usually love it)
Well, it's now too soft, is very limp and doesn't hold any shape or style at all. It still goes all frizzy from humidity, but now its limp as well! I do my hair in the morning and by the time i get to work, it's like i didn't do anything. i have a cowlick that seems to even have gotten worse!
i'm just really upset that it didn't work for me, and i spent $300 on it!

Re: i don't like the Brazilian!
I only had it done on Monday, so maybe i need some getting used to it, but right now I hate it too . It's not even straight!!!!
I still have to blow it out, it STILL does its own thing in the sense that it curls out when it should curl under, etc, but my longest (underneath) layer looks so limp and sometimes even greasy.
This is soooo not what I wanted. I wanted something easy and now I'm spending just as much time as I was before the treatment, only I'm not flat-ironing, I'm curling and curling and curling with the round brush to try and not look like a limp, greased rat.

Re: i don't like the Brazilian!
I think it depends on where you get it done. I had it done last summer and it was perfect for 3 months. This summer I had it done somewhere else and I hated it. It was greasy everyday and still frizzed. I started washing it out after 2 weeks because it looked so bad. It was a waste of a lot of money.

Nic Im sorry you dont like it. Which one did you end up getting?
It is never going to be PIN straight but after blowing it out it should be straight and you should be able to get some flips to it.
I guess it makes a difference to all hair texture..cause for me its really been great.

Re: i don't like the Brazilian!
It wont make your hair straight. And it depends on which type you got and the person doing it. I have had the type you have to wait 4 days before washing and didnt think I had great results then I tried the kind you can wash and do whatever right after and it worked amazing....still had to dry but not iron and had just enough body to it.

yeah, i definitely didn't want my hair to be pin straight (which it isn't) but just to smooth it out a bit. unfortunately, it just went frizzy and limp. Don't have the greasy problem that some others have mentioned though (thankfully!) I also got the kind that you leave in for 24 hours and then wash out as opposed to the 4 days kind.
I definitely won't be trying this again with a different salon or technique..its just not worth it (what if it was the same results KWIM?)
I realize it must just be my hair didn't agree with it, but it's still very frustrating that i HATE my hair right now, which of course affects the way i feel about my overall appearance.

Re: i don't like the Brazilian!
I still think they're going to discover that putting whatever formeldehyde derivative makes it work on your head and ingesting it in the salon and in the shower is a carcinogen. I have been told that even the "non formaldehyde" ones work becuase they have another equally noxious aldehyde in them. Not worth it to me.
