I don't get a 12 week sono!
I don't know why I don't.....
they do the AFP test, but the ultrascreen does not seem to be a standard test in my practice....

Is it a different practice from when you had your other children?
Can you request for it to be done even if it is not standard?

It isn't a mandatory "test". More and more doctors are doing it now but not all practices require you to have the 12 week ultrascreen.
If it is a test you want, request them to administer it. But first, check with your insurance company to make sure it will be covered.

I didn't get one either and I was disappointed, but they had given me a 9 week one so I thought that might be why. I can't wait till Wednesday for my 20 week!

um, that's ridiculous... it tests for the possibility of down syndrome! did you ask your doc if you could have it anyway?

The AFP tests for downs as well. Maybe her practice will do a sono if the AFP numbers are off.
And it isn't a required test.

I didn't have a 12 week sono either. It isn't common for my doctor's office. At my doctor, you have the 8 week sono, 20 week sono and a growth sono at 30+ weeks. So don't worry! Not all doctors give the same and not all insurance companies cover the same!

My doc didn't do an ultrascreen, just the AFP Triple screen test around 16 weeks. Then the first scheduled sono was between 18-20 weeks. I had a sono early with Jayden because I had no idea when my last period was, so I had one to get a due date.
