I did a good deed the other night..(I think)
So I was driving home from the ambulance corps around 10:30 and had to stop at the walgreens in smithtown to get toilet paper.
I see a bunch of teenage boys vandalizing a car. With spray paint, silly string, etc. My thought was it probably belongs to a friend of theirs who works in Walgreens any they are playing a practical joke. There are people walking in and out of the store, look at them and then walk away. I am on the fence about calling the police. So I go inside, buy my TP and come out. There is now a car alarm going off in a different car they are now sitting in and I hear the words "hotwire" and "steal." So I get in my car and right in front of them call 911 and report them. I drove away after talking to the dispatcher but a part of me really wanted to stay behind and see what happened!
I did the right thing, right?

Except I would've called when I saw them vandalizing the first car, whether or not it was a friend's, it wasn't their property.
And I wouldn't have called in front of them, I wouldn't want to give them any heads-up for fear that they might run off before the cops got there.
But I can't believe other people were doing nothing!!!

Cindy, these kids were morons. I actually made a call when I first pulled into the lot, and they saw me then, so obviously someone calling the cops on them wasn't the first thing on their minds.
I know I should have called right away but I went through that "oh someone else will do it" mentality, which was stupid. And I know thats what all the other peope walking in and out of the store were thinking.
I think the car they were in was actually their car because they were driving around the parking lot in it, but were being idiots. I gave the dispatcher the lic to that car so if they did drive away I doubt they got far. They were still throwing things around and acting stupid when I left, and I know there are always cops in that area because Smithtown FD is right around the corner, so I am sure they got there within a minute or two.
