I desparately need a change...

I have to do something about my job/career. I've been doing this same type of job for almost 10 years now and I HATE IT. I've been to too many different companies in hopes that it will get better, but it keeps getting worse, and in turn, I'm showing that I'm an unstable worker. Right now, I work in the most miserable office possible. Not only is the work killing me (boring and monotonous) but the morale, my co-workers and this environment are unbearable. I'm pretty much a live and friendly person. I just need to get away from all these negative things that surround me. I find myself depressed more and more everyday and I just don't know what to do anymore. My DH and I are buying our first home this fall, and although I hate this job and this work, it does pay pretty decent money, so I have to work in order to help out with the home. I keep telling myself to stick it out just for another year until DH and I try to start to have a family, but it's so much easier to say than do. I'll still have to go back to work after the baby is born and the thought of being away from my child to come here and/or do this type if work is unbearable. Unfortunately, I have no college, so I'm limited as to what I can do that will pay decent money for us to survive. I'm sorry this is so long. I just needed to vent. Thanks.

I feel the same exact way about the job situation, and everyday it's worse. I only have about a year of college so that's part of my problem too. My difference is that I get paid CRAP, and I already have a house and a baby, so I'm even more limited!!! I've been trying to get a job, but haven't had any luck unfortunately. I just keep hoping that something will come along!!! Good luck and feel better! (I know... easier said than done!)

Could you go back to school at night and take some classes? Even an Associate's degree would help make you more marketable. Good luck!

I would love to do this, it's just that we don't have the $$$$$. We are just barely going to be getting by. Besides, with wanting a family next year, I'll never finish. I'm still thinking about it though. I just wish there was an easier way to life and living on L.I. doesn't help much either.

I'm sorry that you're in a rut about your job, but it's never too late to go back to school and if you want it you can do it! I just read a great article in Oprah Magazine about women who changed careers/jobs/went back to school and some were in their 50's. I feel so empowered! I hope you feel better soon & can see a brighter side of things.
