I can't take it anymore with DD

She never wants to eat, meals with her are such a struggle. Tonite she is eating cereal, because she would not eat the ravioli's I prepared.

She hardly eats lunch and dinner is a cr@pshoot. She won't eat veggies, except for corn, most nights won't eat meat and I tried to sneak stuff in her food to no avail.

HELP I am losing my mindChat Icon Chat Icon

Julia is the same way now, won't eat any meats and is so picky at what I give her, she like studys the food and if something looks weird to her, she says no mama--lolChat Icon I give her waffles for dinner sometimes cause I'm so fustrated that she won't eat what I make her, her favorite food is Mac and cheese, but she can't eat it every night. I hope it gets better for us!Chat Icon

I completely and whole-heartedly believe that when they're hungry, they'll eat. I try to never stress over eating with Ava for that exact reason. Also, I only give her choices within reason. SHe gets two choices and if she chooses not to eat, then she chooses not to eat. Eventually, she gets hungry and eats what I offer. It might sound mean of me, but it works and she's a great eater. Don't stress too much. I know you say she's tiny, but they really will eat what they need. It might seem like she's eating nothing, but they can definitely get away with what they graze on.Chat Icon

Thankfully I don't have this problem..and hopefully never will. If you are worried about her not getting enough fruits and veggies try giving her a v8 splach. I agree that she will eat when she is hungry.. kids have little bellys so then don't need as much food.

I have to tell you Michelle we have the same hunger strike going on here too. D is taking two bites if that of whatever I make and saying I am done. I am just giving her pediasure to help make sure she gets some nutrients during the day. She thinks it's just chocolate milk. I see her losing some weight but she also just came out of growth spurt too. I am at my wits end but I remember the advice we used to tell parents when I worked in a peds office. Do the best you can, but don't make it a torture event, they will eat when they are hungry.

I totally understand what you are going through though.

Re: I can't take it anymore with DD

It's probably a stage. DS did that for a while. He's still stubborn sometimes, but he eats a lot better now. When he was very little, he ate everything. Now, he eats almost everything, just not every day. When he's hungry, he lets us know, so he does eat.

I think it's a control issue. At that age, DC have almost no control over anything in their life, but they desperately want to, since they are starting to realize things. Eating is one thing they can control. Usually, once they are able to control other things, or realize that they are OK with the way things are, they start eating again.

Michelle she sounds like how I was... I would ONLY eat specific things and even then I often didn't want to eat them..

I think it was a game I played to test my mother's patience and the more she reacted the more I did itChat Icon

I know its not funny, but maybe explain to her, if she doesn't eat.. she's not doing xxx or playing with xxx
