I cannot understand how restaurants

charge so much money for private parties and the majority of the food is pasta.
If they're charging 30-35 dollars per person, I'd like some fish or meat.

It's so frustrating finding a place.Chat Icon

where are you looking? if it's not too big a party, i know of a good place that has a great, inexpensive party menu.

have you tried sergio's (massapequa on merrick rd)? i had my rehearsal dinner there. the place is kind of small, only two rooms, but each room holds about 50 - 60 people i think. the menu is really good and the food is delish, and i think i paid $23 pp - and that included unlimited soda wine and beer.

Check out the Bulldog in Amityville and The Argyle Grill in Babylon. For smaller parties, The Library Cafe in Farmingdale. We had my sister's baby shower there and the food was pretty good (same owners for The Bulldog, so the food might be just as good).

I think all three places are about $24-$26pp.

Re: I cannot understand how restaurants

I had posted on the food board a lot of restaurants for private parties since I am planning my parents 40th anniversary party...

We are having it at Pomodorino on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington.. You get the entire restaurant (that was important to me) to yourself from 12-4 on a Sat or Sun, sit down lunch- appetizers, salad, with 5 different main entrees to choose from a list of 10 and it is pretty reasonable... They have 3 menus to choose from... We picked the $26.95 menu, they have a $22 and a $31 also... You need a minimum of 35 people....

I just had a surprise 60th at La Famiglia in Plainview and it was very nice too... sit down lunch...

Most of the places I looked at were between 26-31 plus tax and tip per person.. I found that the average... Some places you need minumums also..

I also liked Mims in Syosset and Fiddleheads in Oysterbay, Piccolo Bussola in huntngton, Jolly FIsherman in Roslyn to name a few...

Give La Famiglia a call..they have 2 locations (smithtown & plainview)

It is family style and they are VERY generous with the amount of food. PLUS, the food is delicious~
