I called my doctor about this debilitating fatigue....
I go in on Thursday anyway. They say there is nothing they can do, and on Thursday they will give me an Rx for all sorts of bloodwork. I guess that means that by the time I have the blood drawn will be Friday. My appt. is in the afternoon on Thurs. So the earliest I will know if there is something treatable is Monday. I have been home all day today and missed work on a day that I had tons to do. I have not been sleeping but I have not done anything. I keep wondering if it is all in my head but I really do not think so. I'd prefer to be productive and this is a horrible time for me to be losing steam.

It is totally normal and it does go away. You have to just push through. I would struggle through the day at work and come home and pass out on the couch before 8:00

Do you think you might have an iron deficiency? You could try some iron supplements, or have a few pints of guinness.
Feel better!

Re: I called my doctor about this debilitating fatigue....
truthfully I was so tired, Icould barely stay awake ever, or even MOVE, I was so tired. IT DOES go away.
I would go to work and come home at 3pm, sleep till 8pm. BACK to bed at 10pm and wake up at 8 am....
And still be tired.
HANG IN THERE!

What week are you in now? I know that I was completely exhausted in the first tri. I would fall asleep by 9pm every night - and HAVE to take a nap during the day - I would actually crash. It does go away though!

That's why I am concerned. I have been the kind of tired that you just push through and get through the day. This is where it is simply not safe for me to get behind the wheel and my eyes glaze over at the computer and I may even think I am working, but I have a bunch of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs on my screen when I finally come to, or the phone rings and I realize that I was not even truly conscious. I understand the advice to just push through it, and believe me, I want to.

Probably but now I feel inclined to wait for my tests and just take the prenatals until then.

This may be a stupid question - but is there a place at work where you can take a little cat nap? That may help you through the day a little bit. Even if it's just during your lunch hour? My last job had couches outside the ladies room that we would all crash on whenever we were sick/tired.

Yes, if I lock my office, no one will bother me. I have had to take naps. but today I never even made it to the office in the first place!

Re: I called my doctor about this debilitating fatigue....
It really can be debilitating. People at work used to laugh at me, they still do, but it's very scary at times. It will pass they say!

If anyone laughed at me right now, I would deck them. On second thought, I am too tired for that and I would hire someone else to deck them.

Re: I called my doctor about this debilitating fatigue....
if you are REALLY tired you may be anaemic - which is normal.
Try to eat lots of iron - red meat and such, it may help

Re: I called my doctor about this debilitating fatigue....
I know how you feel. I am an INSONIAC the last few weeks. I am 39 wks. I am not falling asleep until 3 and than I am wide awake by 6 and than cant fall back asleep until almost 10. I did have a good night sleep last night though, well for me anyway. I fell asleep around 2 and even though I wake up every hour didnt actually get up until 10.

Re: I called my doctor about this debilitating fatigue....
I was so tired in my first trimester, I had to take 3 hour lunches so I could nap. So I worked 6 hours instead of 8. Then it passed by week 11-12.
Unless you have a medical condition/deficiency which the dr. can check, it's normal.

Re: I called my doctor about this debilitating fatigue....
How many weeks are you? By 12 or 13 weeks, the fatigue WILL Lift and you will begin to feel human again.
Your doctor is right though, there really is nothing they can do for it, its just a pregnancy "side-effect".

Re: I called my doctor about this debilitating fatigue....
my iron was a little on the low side, i guess this is also why i craved meat alot early on and i'm still exhausted at 11 weeks. i go to bed early and even when i'm awake i'm lethargic. Everyone is saying it will pass so i'm waiting. hang in there and good luck

Re: I called my doctor about this debilitating fatigue....
try eating some red meat over the next couple of days - if it is an iron deficiency, this should help a bit. I was "borderline anemic" with my first pregnancy and was tired like you are. I was actually scared to get pg again b/c of it. Well this pg is totally different and I credit the fact that I am eating red meat this time (was not with first pg). I feel amazing. Good luck and load up on iron rich foods - i think spinach too.
