What is the point of those baby apps. The ones that you can keep track of the poops, the diaper changes, the feedings, the everything?

Do I have to have one of those?

It's just another way of keeping a journal. Usually kept if noticing abnormal responses or behaviors up keep a record to determine a cause for something abnormal. Others just want to keep a log of everything for their own knowledge

We used one ITZBEEN with DC since there were so many people "helping" with the baby... It was definitely a help. But the apps, if you need to track something, pen and paper are just fine... especially since you (and I'm assuming here) not the only one caring for the LO.

An app sounds like a great idea to me.

I don't remember jotting down feedings with my first but with my 2nd I was soooooooo tired (#1 was only 18 mos when #2 was born) that I honestly would not remember when it was that he ate last. I used to keep a sheet of paper in the kitchen for the first few weeks (months?).

I don't see any reason to track poops though

I am getting an iphone because of this! Well, I also hate my blackberry a little.

My SIL uses it for nursing and wih DD, it was a huge PITA to record everything in a book.

I think if you are not nursing, it's not as necessary to record feedings.

Also, the diaper changes and what not, it's helpful to have IF a problem becomes apparent-- like, hmmm-- when's the last time he/she peed or pooped? The concern with a newborn is that they are getting enough and not getting dehydrated.

Also, as a new mom-- sometimes you don't remember the last time you gave a bottle, etc., so it helps to record, esp in the early days.

I kept a note book in the kitchen...
I was so tired I couldnt remember my name let alone the last time I fed dd
I was trying to bf too so I would write L or R for which side I started on (only lasted a week )
My mom made fun of me at first but then took it back cause she realized it helped to keep track...
I think an app would be more work then its worth...a pencil and paper is fine for me

I used one called BabyGeek. I originally used in on my iPod Touch, but now it's on my iPhone. DH also has an iPhone and we could sync the information so if one of us had to go somewhere, we knew if she had to sleep, have her diaper changed or eat.

I could keep track of when she ate, diapers, and sleeping. I still use it for her height and weight, and shots. It has a developmental checklist in it too.

In the beginning, when I didn't know which end was up, it helped me keep a record of when she ate, how much she ate, which was really important when she would wake up at 3am and I couldn't think straight. Also, I know it sounds silly, but I would lose track of when I changed her diaper.

I loved it and will be using it again with DC#2.
