I am way too nice

So DH's father got Phish tix for them when they reunite in March. DH is a big fan so I said he could go if they got the tix and FIL got them for all 3 days! So DH will be away now at a concert for at least 2 nights if they sell the other set of tix. How nice am I?! WHY did I agree to this!! SO....would I be a bad mommy if I took a trip by myself to visit my friend in Boston next month? If DH is going to get some time away by himself , I feel entitled to a mini getaway myself. KWIM? What do you think?

You should definitely go! DH and I usually take one small trip a year with our own friends too. I see nothing wrong with it. Ds is actually on a golf trip right now, that I paid for! Chat Icon

I think if you want to go away, you should and your husband should be able to go to the concert, provided finances aren't an issue.

I also don't think it's being "way too nice" on either end - everyone is entitled to breaks.

I completely agree! I was being sarcastic really. Although, having DH away for 3 days will be tough . I do want him to go and enjoy himself! I just need a break too :) Since I'm a new mommy I was just wondering if you ladies thought it would be okay if I took a little trip by myself :)

Totally ok for you to take a little break. I went to AC for 2 nights with the girls when DS was 6 months and then again for 2 nights to RI when he was 9 months. And DH and I took him to Florida for a week at 10 months. I think it's just as important to do tings on your own when you can, as it is to do things together as a family.
And I understand 3 days feeling like a long time. We've never done more than 2 nights, but DH is off golfing for 4 nights right now. I'm happy for him that he's getting a break with his friends, but I miss him already. I haven't seen him since yesterday morning, for 10 minutes before work, and he won't be back until some time on Saturday. Chat Icon

Re: I am way too nice

My DH went to Germany with his soccer team when my DS was 2 weeks old. And I had a 4 year old, a 2 year old and a c/s. And no kitchen counter tops. I am apparently a Goddess to his teammates LOL But it would have bothered me to see him miss the trip. I took a trip 2 months later to see family & friends in Atlanta. No guilt here. You should definitely go and enjoy a little Me time as well, we all need it. Its when you don't do it that everyone suffers. The balance is important.
