I am so upset...
I am so upset. I know many of you girls had to go for the 3 hour test but this is the one thing I was dreading since becoming pregnant. I cannot handle blood tests and now I failed my one hour test and have to go for the 3 hour. My number was 150 and the doctor said 140 is normal. I really would love to not even go to be honest.
For thos who have had it, how bad was it?? I got naseous for the one hour with that dumb drink, I cant imagine the 3 hour. I am just so upset.

Re: I am so upset...
It wasn't too bad (I'm not good with needles). They take your blood, you drink your drink, in one hour they take it again, in another hour they take it again, in another hour they take it again.
I had to do it with both pregnancies & luckily didn't have GD. I hope the same for you! Good luck!

Re: I am so upset...
Noreen, I swear, we're so much alike I absolutely dreaded having to get the 3 hour test done, but it really wasn't so bad. I had my mom come with me and keep me company, and the girls in the lab were so sweet. They offered me a place to lay down and put on a movie in the waiting room. Just really nice. It's only one little vile of blood they take each time they take your blood, and while I know it stinks that you still have to have it taken all those times, it's really not that bad. I just kept telling myself that I was doing it for Ava, and that it was important to know if my health was in jeopardy because that meant hers was, too. I've also adopted a "no worry" policy for the remainder of my pregnancy and labor. I decided that worrying can do absolutely nothing productive for me and that I need to deal with each situation as it comes, and not beforehand. I am someone who will throw myself into a horrible anxiety attack if I allow myself, too. I just keep feeling this overwhelming sense of needing to calm myself down and deal with things on behalf of Ava. I just think, well, what's going to happen when she's 5 and falls and breaks her arm, or if I need to rush her to the hopital for stitches someday? I'm not going to be able to freak out then, so I need to start controlling the urge to NOW. It's a mind over matter thing for me, and it seems to really be working. I know you and I share a lot of the same fears and anxieties, and I don't know if it will work for you, but it's worth a try

Re: I am so upset...
I ahd mine yesterday, and it wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. I had mine done at the doctor's office, and they let me leave in between dlood draws, so i didn't have to sit there for 3 hours. I between i ran errands to kill the time. They also used the little butterfly needles, which didn't hurt at all.

Not so bad...I had mine yesterday. I brought my computer and was able to get lots of work done in the quiet room they put me in. Definitley make sure you bring something with you to make the time pass.
Good luck:)

Re: I am so upset...
here is what helped me... Have your husband go with you..it is his baby too and you need the support
bring a book or magazine bring a full, cold water bottle
bring a protein snack to have the minute the test is over..you may even feel dizzy from not eating for so long
The blood tests were not bad...the waiting SUCKED..I was so tired from getting up so early and sooo bored and starving.
150 is not too bad so the 3 hour might help you pass. Good Luck.
