Hysterosonogram on friday - Question!
hi everyone!
So i go for my hysterosonogram this Friday - has anyone ever had one of these? what is the procedure? is it going to hurt? what is it that they are looking for?

yes, it is the water sono - and thank you! i was hoping to hear it wasn't too bad!!
Oh it is the water sono-- I though it was HSG.
I had the water sono with Dr. B and it was easy a pie-- cramped for like a second but it was nothing.

No: an HSG and water sono are two different things.
A water sono is when they inject saline into your uterus and look with an ultrasound. It is not painful at all. It looks primarily at your uterus. You do this at your Re's office.
An HSG is when they inject dye into your uterus & do Xrays to see how it travels. It looks at your fallopian tubes. It hurt (cramps) despite taking ibuprofen prior to the procedure... probably because of the irritation of the contrast. This is done by a radiologist.

NYC GIRL is right on.. The HSG was crampy but its over quickly. I took advil before. They tell you right there if your tubes are open and how they look. Some women ( not I) get pregnant from just having this procedure " open" or flush the tubes out Good LucK!
