Hypothetically speaking......

If chunks of your roof were flying off during a wind/rain storm, would it be covered by homeowners insurance?

What about damage to your car because said chunks landed on the hood?

What are the chances of the roof leaking if enough shingles flew off so that you're able to see plywood?

I would not make the claim. the damage has to be so minor, to risk making a claim and pay the deductible, I can't see it worth it.

Now if it flew off someone else's house and hit my car, that's a different story

I don't think the roof should leak with a missing shingle, but you now exposed the wood, which could be damaged which would then lead to a leak. I would fix ASAP if its your own roof

I think you should be okay, but just had to mention my crazy husband is up on our roof right now hammering down shingles....

and yea, just this second the ladder flew down & a random guy in a car stopped to pick up the ladder & hold it while he climbed down Chat Icon Chat Icon Thank God it didn't hit our brand new car.

Re: Hypothetically speaking......

this weather is crazy and anything can go flying off anyone's house. If there was any damage, I would see how bad things were first and then figure out if I would put in a claim or not.

Our neighbors had their roof shingles flapping and someone stop over that they called, got up on the roof with a tarp and nailed the tarp to the roof with 2x4 then left. Not much can be done in this weather.

And our stream is getting higher and higher in the backyard and a tree is starting to come down because of all the rain in the stream. I might have to put a claim in after this weekend is over. Chat Icon
