Huntington Pediatricians: Cohen, Caramella and Meltzer

Hi Everyone!

I am due in about 5 weeks and need a pediatrician. I was referrred to the Huntington Medical Group and was going to go there, but then my OB raved about Cohen, Caramella and Meltzer. He takes his own children there. It makes me think that if a fellow doctor goes there, they must be good!

Any thoughts or experiences with this practice? Any particular doctor? My OB recommended Dr. Cohen. Also, does anyone know if they take GHI insurance?

Congratulations! I am not familiar with any of those doctors but I do take my DS to Dr. Kurfist who is in the Huntington area (Main St. 25 A). He came highly recommended and we love him and the rest of his practice. Very professional, patient, intelligent and the front staff and nurses are really really nice. There are two other doctors in the practice that we have seen as well and they are all great.

Huntington Medical Group

There is a doctor on 365 days.

Walk in hours first thing in the am and on Saturday.
They are FAST. One time we were there and the line was out the door and down the hall... about 30 people... we were in an office within 10 minutes.

Radiology on site... you do not have to get a sick/cranky kid in and out of the car again only to drive back to your doc again. They send you down the hall for x-rays and the doc sees them within minutes.

Pharmacy on-site. Again, no in and out of the car with a sick kid to get the script.

Parking can be a pain but they do have valet.

I used them for years....

I only switched b/c we moved farther east...

Had it not been for Dr Caravella it would have taken years for my daughter to be diagnosed with Mosaic Down Syndrome...(Long story but let's just say he really knows his stuff)

I definitely recommend them...

My stepdaughters see Dr Siev who is with Huntington Medical Group. My DH cant say enough good things about him...

Not a fan of the practice. I went to them for awhile before switching another practice.

I thought they were condescending when I asked about splittng vaccines & pooh'ed a lot of my concerns. I don't think I was one of the paranoid new oms, by any means.

The one I liked best out of the group was Meltzer.

eta. My ob recommened him during delivery as well.

Im a Huntington Med Group client.

I love love LOVE that every single possible need is all in the same building.

They are always there 24/7 for all needs with your baby and NOTHING is too small.

They take everything serious even new mommy worries.

I've called them up at 1am - 3am and even 6am and they never just blow me off. They've been wonderful.

Having a doctor available to see my baby on Sundays because she was crying and feverish and just CAUSE is/was unbelievably important to me.

I see Siddiqui and Cavanah and love them both!

sorry i've never heard of the other practice and im super sorry that moving to Texas means I lose the Huntington Medical Group!

I use them and have been very happy with them. They have always spent time addressing any of my concerns.

Dr. Caravella is the best!. He's really good with kids & clearly loves them. He's also been amenable to splitting up shots for my DD. Their office is almost always open on Sundays, too!
