Re: HSG?
It is different for everyone, but I can tell you about my experience. First they will insert the a balloon type of thing to hold the uterus in place - I did not feel any discomfort with this. Then they inject a dye or contrast to see that it flows through the fallopian tubes, this will show if there is any blockage. That for me personally was very uncomfortable, it felt like intense menstrual cramps - but I got through it and once they were done I felt fine. I was even able to go to the gym later that day.
I hope this helps. oh and take tylenol an hour before. Good Luck!

You may need to change your position, and lie on your side as well, for some of the x-rays. Some people respond differently to the level of pain. For me, the pain was a bit intense for all of 5 seconds but it felt like an eternity; I was fine right after. They will give you a pad, because there might be some light spotting. Mine lasted for 2 days, but I was told that it might be the dye.
I was lucky because it was my actual RE who did it and he showed me everything as it was going on. Because he was there, he was able to give me the results right away It provided me with more reassurance Definitely take some Tylenol or Motrin before the procedure.
Best of luck!!!

Re: HSG?
Like a PP said, it's different for everyone. They insert the balloon and then the dye. The place I went to had a screen so I could watch it and they explained it as it was happening. The pain during the actual HSG was intense - like VERY bad AF cramps. But it is over quickly and I was fine the rest of the day. I did have spotting for a few days, but it was fine. Good luck!

Re: HSG?
i personally had zero issues
i asked the dr , "when am I supposed to feel the cramps?"
i have been told that it can be painful if there are any blockages because the dye is being forced in
i went during my lunch hour and took 2 motrin an hour before
bring a thin underwear liner, youll have some dye and light spotting for an hour or so (the pad they give you at the facility is a boomerang, lol)
good luck, it will be fine!
