HR people: Incentive plans

How common is it for HR Staff to be on a bonus / comp plan?

If you have one, what is your comp plan based on?

Re: HR people: Incentive plans

DH works for a hedge fund. Everyone, including HR, get a bonus based on how the funds did that year as well as individual performance.

Generically speaking, the people who had more to do with the performance of the funds (portfolio managers, traders, researchers) get bigger bonuses.

But their HR person is good at selling herself and has pointed out more than once that if it weren't for her recruiting such intelligent and talented staff the funds wouldn't have done so well. Rumor has it her bonus was increased after those statements were made, but DH doesn't know for sure.

Could be. Variable plans are gaining popularity throughout any organization.

It can be based on overall company results or individual objectives.

Re: HR people: Incentive plans

In my company all salaried associates are eligible for some form of annual bonus. It's a percentage of base salary based on company and individual performance (gives the company an "out" if necessary but historically we always get SOMETHING, sometimes over 100%)

Obviously higher level HR folks get higher bonus potential.

I have worked as a corp recruiter where we got base + bonus based on # of hires and client satisfaction (more like an agency environment, but not really)
