how you do decide - keep/donate/sell

I am going through DD's clothes that no longer fit and some of the sleep and plays she never even wore before she outgrew them...

They have no sentimental value to me but could be useful for baby #2 whenever we have one, however, if that baby is not a girl or is born in the wrong season to use this stuff it will have sat around for who knows how long...

So...how do you decide if you should keep something, donate it or try selling it?

I would say, if you have the room and think you will have another DC within 5 years, keep it

If it still has tags on it, or if it's a good brand name, you can try to sell it.

If it has been slightly used but not damaged, I would donate it.

We keep everything that isn't stained and doesn't look worn. Everything else we donate...

So far we have 4 huge bins on shelves in our garage.

after i had DS1 i kept everything that wasn't stained or worn.

DS2 is pretty set so far with clothes. i fill in for him here and there but i have tons of clothes for him.

After DD#1 we kept everything that was in good condition. I lucked out and DD#1 was born at the end of Jan and DD#2 was born in the beginning of March so I have been able to use most of Kaydyn's stuff for Ainsley. As Ainsley is growing out of things now I am giving them to my sister (her twins were born in Dec) or donating them.

We tried having a garage sale and I tried selling unused stuff separately and nothing really sold. So stuff with tags I'm keeping for presents for the future and used stuff we donate.

If you are planning on having more children I would keep everything that is in good condition.

For us, I knew we were two and done so once we had DS and I knew DD was a girl I started to donate or give things to friends.

I kept everything from the 1st year for sentimental value. Everything else is for donation.

Keeping the clothes for another DC doesn't make sense to me personally bc there are too many variables that would have to match up - I would have to have another DS and he'd have to somehow be a certain size at a particular season to get any use out of the clothes. I don't sell it bc people don't pay a lot for baby clothes even if it's in great shape. Selling a bunch of clothes for $10 doesn't really help me financially so I'd rather donate to people who can really use it and need it. My mom just went away to South America and we shipped boxes of DS' clothes over there so she can hand it out to those who need it.
