How would you handle this?

I have a friend who just had a baby 2 months ago (3 weeks before I had my baby). We had made plans for her to come over to meet my daughter 2 weeks ago, on a Monday. The Saturday before that, she texted me and said that my invite to her daughter's christening had gotten sent back because she wrote the address wrong or something. She said the christening was going to be June 1st and that she would give me my invite when we got together. That Monday that we were supposed to hang out, I woke up with a bad cold. I texted her to let her know, since she also has a newborn, and asked if she wanted to reschedule. She said yes, and we agreed we'd be in touch when I was better. Fast forward to that weekend, we were texting about something else, and then she said that the week coming up was super hectic for her and wanted to know if she could come over the following week (meaning this week) to meet my daughter. I said absolutely, we could definitely work something out. Then all the sudden, this past Sunday night it hits me that it's June 1st. I never got an a christening invite and never heard from her with the details. So I thought maybe they had decided to reschedule it or something. But then yesterday, she posted a bunch of pics on FB from the christening and thanked everyone who helped celebrate. I don't exactly know which one of us is at fault here, or if it's both of us, or neither of us or what. But I feel bad that the christening came and went and we missed out on it entirely. I want to acknowledge it, but don't want to come across like I'm angry at her or blaming her. How would you handle it? TIA for any advice you can offer!

I would let it go. My guess is she forgot about the invite getting returned.

I think it was just an honest mistake on both ends. You both have a lot going on with newborns so things happen. If you want, I would maybe just get a card to give when you see her and just say you forgot that you hadn't gotten the invite and the date slipped your mind. I would guess she'll probably be embarrassed but I'd rather give a small gift than risk having her think you just didn't show or care.

I agree. I would get her a small gift and let it go.
