How will I know when ...
I'm having a contraction?
I know everyone says "You'll just know" but I'm afraid b/c I've been having some cramping and sharp pains that come and go ... I thought they just might be braxton hicks.
I'm coming up on 30 weeks and I think I'm just getting very nervous about the whole process!
I'm deathly afraid of waiting too long to go to the hospital and not having time to get an epi.
How about all of you? When did you go? When did you wait?

I have cramping but when I have a contraction its like my whole belly - especially the top - gets really HARD and the bottom of my belly is a little hard but it feels like AF cramps. Sometimes they last 30 seconds but lately they've been lasting about a monute or longer.

When you go into labor you will know The contrations will be strong enough to make you stop walking, talking etc. I was worried about this as well. I went to the Dr. the morning before Alex was born with mild contractions he said they were braxton hicks and when the real thing started I would know because I wouldn't be smiling through them. He was right! I had contractions that were lasting 30 - 40 seconds every two minutes. I went to the hospital and I wasn't even dialated. They made me walk the halls for an hour and I was 1cm. I think it is a very rare that you won't make it to the hospital in time for an epi.

Do they feel like stomach aches? Sometimes I get these sporadic stomach aches. But I am only 31 weeks. I don't know if i'm having Braxton Hicks as well.

It's kinda of confusing though, cuz you don't know if it's braxton hicks or not or just a belly ache. Especially when you junk food...lol

 i know! i've been trying to remember what i've been eating lately, thinking that may be setting it off, but it's nothing out the ordinary!
i've been having pressure, too, and last time i told the dr about it she was like 'do you feel like you have to push' and i said no but it's not comfortable! she's like get used to it!

It will start like PMS dull pains and then get worse and you won't think anything except those are contractions!

I was having REAL contractions for 2 days straight before having Ryan...
And all I can say is...You'll know!!! I swear, I couldnt focus on anything, and totally felt like I became demoned possesed! I remember throwing a magazing across the Dr's office...
