How, Where and When do you get your 12-18 month old...
to NAP!?
DD is driving me crazy!!! She has so much energy and is such an alert kid which is great, but in combination with not napping-- its really taking its toll on me.
How /what method do you use to get your DC down for a nap? and what time? Does CIO work for naps?

My DS is 16 months...and unfort for me...usually naps when we are in the car...when we are out and about...and usually never transitions to the house sleeping...typically b/w 12-2
If this happens, and he just falls asleep...ill sit in the driveway and read...lol It peace and quiet for everyone!

DS is 19 months and goes down around 1-1:30. Usually he goes right down to sleep.
What time are you putting her down and what time does she wake up in the morning?

She goes to sleep at 8 at night and usually gets up at 7/7:30. She was taking a nap around 10:10:30 and then again around 2:30 (and when I say taking a nap, I mean, sometimes and sometimes just one of those naps and with putting up a lot of resistance) but the last couple of weeks that morning nap has been more and more diffcult so I am trying to transition her to take 1 nap a day -- around 11:30/ 12:00 or so.. She is already sucking her thumb by then (and other signs she is tired). I will lay down wth her (bc that is so far the only way it SOMETIMES works) but she ends up clsoing her eyes, getting almost there, and then just wakes up smiling and laughing wanting to play!!

DS is 12 months and he naps from roughly 1230-230 everyday. That schedule is all because of daycare. They got him on a steady nap schedule in 2 days.

That's pretty much the same schedule as my DS as far as bed and wake up time. We also had trouble when transitioning from 2 naps to 1 at first. He would only sleep for like a half hour. After a few weeks the nap got longer and we got a good schedule going.
Do you feed her lunch before or after? I've found lunch right before works b/c then his belly is nice and full and I feel like that makes him more tired.

Ideally I would do lunch before , but sometimes she shows signs of being tired much earlier than lunch.. like around 10:30 /11:00 but then its me trying to get her to sleep for 2 hours and her refusing!
How do you get your DS down for a nap? do you rock? just put him in a crib? do a routine first?

Re: How, Where and When do you get your 12-18 month old...
Maybe she's not really tired that early, but is just hitting a mid-morning slump? I do sometimes notice DS seems tired around 11am, but I just try to do something quiet like read books or color and then his energy seems to come back up.
Our routine is just eat lunch, wash his hands, change his diaper and into the crib. We have a CD player in his room so some days I put music on for him. He generally goes right down. If he's fussing for more than 10 minutes I go in and 9 times out of 10 it's b/c he pooped so we change him again and put him back in the crib.
He's kind of always been like that though. I've never had to rock him or anything. We have done CIO at night, but he never needed it for naps.
It's definitely a hard transition. It drove me nuts for several weeks so I feel your pain. If she's not going down early, try a little later for a few days and see how it works out. You can always move it back to earlier if you need to.
