How weird is it that this ISN'T weird for me??

My ex-husband (Scotty's dad) lives in California...he called Monday and asked if Scotty was going to be home Weds/Thurs, because he was making a last minute business trip and wanted to extend it and spend some time with Scotty. I said that Scotty was free, other than Thurs night (tonight) he's going to the Yankee game with DH, my mom, my stepfather, and my 2 neices.

Well I find out that my stepfather has work meetings and can't make the game, so DH said..."why don't you see if (exhusband) wants to go since he's here and it would make Scotty so happy". So I made sure DH and my mom were comfortable with that, then asked exhusband, and they are now in my truck, all on the way to the Yankee game.

It sounds so messed up and like I should be freaking out, but actually I'm so glad that it can be like this...Is that strange?

I think that is awsome. My older brother was from my mom's first marriage. We all used to do stuff together with my dad and his biological dad.

your DH and ex sound like incredibly good parents, and Scotty will always remember this. Kudos to your DH for being so open and understanding

I think it was an incredibly generous jesture on you and your husband's part. Your son will appreciate the efforts you have made to be accomodating to your ex-husband. And your ex-husband should be kissing your sneaker for being so curteous to him!

That is so nice! And I think that since it isn't weird for your or your exhusband it won't be weird for your son. Kids pick up those signals so easily!

I think that is SUCH A noble idea that everyone put Scotty first!! That's a great experience for him to see everyone getting along

My DH wouldnt do that(I have 8 yr old from a previous) and a 3 yr old with DH

I do things like that with my 8 yr old and my ex's new wife and their new baby and the wife has a child too so we do stuff sometimes

my DH wants no part of that at all

The best thing for the kids to see is their dad and stepdad and you respecting each other. Huge!!! I laugh because I have a picture of my grandfather, my mom and my stepdads ex-wife doing a conga line at our wedding. I love that!

I think it's awesome and your DH is wonderful for suggesting it! Scotty is very lucky to have 3 parents as understanding as you all are!

i think its great - my parents are divorced and everyone gets along so well all the time and gets together a lot - it is so nice (from the kids point), enjoy!

We see my stepfathers ex wife often, and she is included in all of our family events!

It went incredibly well! They all had such a nice time. DH and my mom both said that it was not uncomfortable at all, and how happy Scotty was. My ex kept saying thanks to me and DH when they got back.
I talked to Scotty about it the next morning and he was just so happy and he kept telling DH that he had so much fun.
I'm really happy it worked out so great.


There was one moment where I had to bite my tongue though. As they were leaving for the game, I was holding Cassidy and my ex was talking to her and telling her how beautiful she was. Then he says "Ughhh, I feel so guilty" so I asked why and he said "this makes me miss Rebecca so much" (Rebecca is his daughter with his new wife who live with him in California). I just grunted, but what I really WANTED to say was "you [email protected] left and I raised Scotty since he was 2 weeks old...you go MONTHS without seeing him. How DARE you tell me that you miss Rebecca!!"
