how to switch formulas
i think ds is having problems with the formula he is on right now, enfamil premium. the last few days he has been extremely gassy and uncomfortable. only drinking an ounce or two per feeding. he also hasn't been sleeping very well. i am thinking of changing him to a formula for babies with gas. ds is 16 days old. how do i make the switch? do i try a bottle and see how it goes? thanks.

Re: how to switch formulas
We didn't do anything special to switch. We just simply started giving him the new formula (thankfully he's not a picky eater). The ped said it takes a few days to see if a new formula makes a difference. I also learned here that switching too often can be bad so give a new formula at least a week. We just switched yesterday for the 2nd time - crossing my fingers it helps.

Re: how to switch formulas
Gentlease ROCKS!!! Can't say enough good things about it. A lot of my patients switch to this product for gas and fussiness issues and it works great!
It is a partially broken down protein formula with reduced lactose to help make it easier for digestion and stop any minor transient lactose sensitivity LO's may have. Still keeps the enzyme lactase working in the gut and is patterned similar to BM.
LOVE IT!
PS. Just bear in mind that stool may change - may be greenish, or looser b/c the product is partially digested
