How to clean the filter on Nikon lenses?
The filter I bought for the lens is all smudged...what's safe to use to clean it (I assume I should take it off the lens before cleaning it)?

It should have come with a soft cloth to clean it with- if not, you can get one from any camera store. It looks like the cloth you would use to clean glasses.
Oh and YES, take it off before cleaning it
