How ppl does your table seat?
How many people can your table seat? Do you have leaf to make it bigger?
Right now we just have a small 4 seater IKEA table that we got when we first moved in; but after 2 years; i'm finally tired of it and ready to get a real dining room table so we can start having peope over.
We found a table we like but it has a stone top and only seats 6. No option to extend it. Is it really that important to seat 8 people? The 6 seater is perfect; and the right $$. Not sure if we should keeping looking for something bigger???Thanks!

I have a convertible Ikea table. It seats 2 when folded--I used to have it in my kitchen in an old apt.
Now I have it open in my dining area & it seats 4 comfortably, but I have done 5 for cofee. Not really enough room for 5 or 6 with serving dishes & dinner plates.
I want a real dining room table too ( don't have an EIK), but I am also not sure how big to go. Depends on who you have over I guess.

Kitchen - seats 6 comfortably or 8-10 when expanded
Dining Room - same # as above
Personally, I wouldn't want smaller because just my immediate family is 10 (me, DH, mom, SD, 2 Brothers & fam) and I don't have kids yet

with two leaves it sits 12-14.
Can you buy a Home Depot 6' Folding table and store it? That way if you have more company you can just add it on? That's what I do when I have the whole family over (then I fit 20 in my dining room)...

Thanks!!! That's what "L" said! Get the 6 seater we like; and if we have people over save our 4 seater we have now and just put it next to it. We would then be able to have at least 10 people seated at a table. Also he said if we host a holiday; we'd have 10 seated at a table and everyone else can sit in the living room (living room opens into dining room).

6 comfortably without the leaf, 10 with the leaf. I think 6 is perfect we put in the leaf during holidays.

We leave the DR expanded and it seats 8.
The kitch is 4, but when we expland we can get 8.

We keep one leaf in all the time and it seats 6. We have 8 chairs, but we have sat up to 10 at it. It was important to me that it seat our entire familiies which is now 13 people!

4 or 6 after we add the leaf. We had a bigger one that seated 8 before addings the leaves but what was the point? We rarely have people over for dinner and our dining room isn't large. So we went for something small and round.

ok thanks! I think we're leaning to the 6 seater. In the two years we've owned our house we've only had people over for sit down meals a few times. i think 6 should be fine; and plus we'll save our other table that we can always use if we need more seating and/or get one of those tables from Home Depot and extend it a little if necessary!
