How pathetic is this.
What is WRONG WITH PEOPLE - you couldn't find something else to do at 3:30am?! DO YOU HAVE PARENTS?!?
Police: Teen left injured friend in road BY SUSANA ENRIQUEZ
July 14, 2007, 10:04 PM EDT
A Kings Park teenager was arrested early Saturday after he left the scene of an accident in which one of his friends was critically injured, Suffolk police said.
Taylor Kern, 17, was driving a 1992 Ford Explorer east on East Main Street in Kings Park about 3:30 a.m. with two of his friends standing on the bumper and holding on to the roof rack, police said.
When Kern sped up, the teenagers fell off near Forest Road.
"They were basically playing around with the car," said Det. Sgt. John Kempf.
Kern and one of the teens, Dylan Revere, 17, of Kings Park, fled, leaving Raymond Cuiffo, 16, of Selden, behind laying on the road with a serious head injury, police said.
After witnesses called for help, Cuiffo was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, Kempf said.
"Once every summer, one teenager gets hurt fooling around with cars," he said.
Kim Revere said that after the accident her son and the driver felt intimidated by a group of men who were down the street yelling at them.
"They were fooling around but they did not leave their friend for dead," said Revere, adding that her son broke his hand. "The only reason that those boys left the scene is because they felt threatened."
Cuiffo's brother declined to comment; Kern's family could not be reached.
Kern was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injuries and second-degree reckless endangerment, police said.
Although Revere also left the scene of the accident, he was not arrested and charged because he was not driving, Kempf said.
The sport utility vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection.

Ok I believe they did not leave their friend for dead. They left him injured.
Did they call the police? ambulance? anyone?
I could understand their parents want to stand by their children through right & wrong but what about
"THey left because they felt threatened. Regardless, we agree they should not have left the scene of the accident & we will deal with this matter as a family." (will have their driving privileges suspended & will be grounded.)

Wow. My mom used to have a saying: "you can't do anything after 11 that you can't do before 11." Basically, I was the ONLY 18 year old with an 11 o'clock curfue. NOW I know why!b

Both KP boys are football players..the coach is very big on pride, self-respect, and respect for community. Monday's practice should be a fun one.

Am I the only one who thinks Revere should also have been charged for leaving the scene???

I felt the same way. I always had to be in before 11 but I'm glad that was the way it was.
