How old was your child when
He or she sat up unassisted. DD is 6 months and isn't doing it yet and I'm surprised because she did everything else early thus far.

How old was your child when
My DD was 8 months when she did it on her own but at around 5-6 months I could put her in a sitting position and she would stay like that for a while without toppling over or needing to be propped.
My DS is 7 months and can be put in a sitting position without toppling over but hasn't done it on his own yet. He did crawl for the first time today so I expect getting into the sitting position on his own will be coming soon.

DD1 was around 6-6.5 months. DD2 is only 5 months and can't yet.

DS is 6 mos on Fri and not yet. I'll prop him up and he'll sit for a few seconds and then topple over. Lol

How old was your child when
If I sat him down, he could stay in a seated position at 5 months for an extended period of time.
He couldn't get into a seated position by himself until after he could crawl so sometime between 8-9 months.

Dd1 was just under 5 months. Dd2 was just under 6 months (5 adjusted). But, both were delayed in their other gross motor skills. Go figure

DD was around 5 months. She started to crawl around 7.5 months and now at 9 months, she is pretty close to standing on her own and has taken a few steps holding onto her V-Tech walker for support. Our house has gates up EVERYWHERE!
