How old was your child when....

you moved them from a crib to a bed? DD is 21 months and I can't see her in a bed. She is all over the place in her crib and will probably fall right out of the bed. A friend of mine just out her daughter in a bed who is the same age and just wanted some thoughts as to what others did.

Roman moved to a toddler bed at 16 months no problem. Clover is almost 16 months and will climb into Roman's bed on her own and take naps so I think she is ready but we're keeping her in her crib for now. Each child is different, it depends. My pediatrician told me the crib was the safest place and if they're not trying to climb out just leave them in there.

DD just turned 2 and we got her a big girl bed. She does fine. She has "fallen" out of bed a few times, but not a full fledged fall - more like she falls at the last second when climbing off the bed.

16 months w/ DD#1 she kept escaping the crib, so I had no choice.

DD is 26 months and still in a crib. I have no intentions of moving her to a bed anytime soon. She's restless and doesn't try to climb out. She loves her crib. Who am I to ruin a good thing

Christopher is 21 months old and DH and I have talked about making the switch, but I think we will wait. He isn't jumping out or anything yet

My DD was 20 months when she made the switch but she went right into the twin bed. I did this before baby 2 came along. I will probably hold out longer with my DS unless he starts climbing out of the crib.

Jacob went from his crib to a toddler bed a little before he turned 2.

I plan on keeping him in his crib as long as possible.

If I get pregnant and have another boy we will use Jack's crib and he'll get bunk beds....so that's at least another 10 months away (he's 19months now) -- If I have a girl - Jack will be in his crib until 10

Both my kids were on the young side...James was 18 month and Marianna was 15 months
I moved them to the bed because they were crawling out of the crib....I felt the bed was safer at that point

DD was 3...she would have stayed in her crib forever if we let her, but at that point she just didn't look right...

Ava had just turned 2 when we switched.

DD was almost 2 when we converted her crib to a toddler bed. She was climbing out of the crib and it was becoming too dangerous. The transition was very smooth.

At 17 mos we had to take DS out of the crib. He freaked that he was "surrounded" and would shake the sides of the crib & scream. I think it is different for every child.

Also, at 15 mos he started napping on a cot at school, so I was more confident about him not falling out. I still put an extra crib mattress under his bed though just in case

I haven't done this yet but wanted to jump in and say I had no idea you could do this so early! My DS is 3 months and I would never have even thought of this anytime soon........good luck!!!

Robbie was around 18 months when I put him in a twin size bed, he was a little monkey and was climbing out of his crib.

about 25 months. We were having a baby a needed the crib. Moved her right to a full bed

Ale is 20 months and still in her crib. She doesn't try to climb out, even when I forget to pull the side up.

I will probably wait until I wean her from the bottle and her paci, and potty train her. Then we may try the big girl bed -- but I am not getting a toddler bed, it will be a full-sized bed.
