How often does your 2+ year old fall while walking?

Emma's knees are awful. She falls ALL the time. I had spoken with the ped. at her 2 year old visit about her in-toeing and she said to wait it out for six months and if it doesn't get better, to see a specialist. She still in-toes but I'm not sure if the falling is attributed to that or just a developmental thing. How often does your toddler fall?

Not often... Sometimes if I put new shoes on him, mostly sandals. Or if he has fluid in his ears.

Not often at all. And while we're around the house, she constantly wearing our shoes, so they never even fit her.

but he is cautious. I see other 2 year olds running full speed ahead, their heads reaching out futher then their feet...Josh would never.

Kaitee is almost 3 now and she rarely falls. Ususally only if she trips over a toy or shoe, normally she can stop her self from falling.

Brooke is almost 21 months old and she falls often. I think she is pigeon toed(I am going to bring it up at her next check up), which seems to make her fall a lot. When she is walking she doesn't fall too much but everytime she runs it normally ends in falling

You have seen Noah in action. He falls OFTEN. But I think he actually trips over things, even his feet more then just falls from the way he walks. he is clutzy and doesnt pay attention as he moves to whats in front of him, around him, etc.

I would call the Ortho if I were you just to get it out of the way.

Often. We are actually going to have an OT for Miranda's clumbsiness and falls and to investigate SPD.

DD falls pretty often. Her knees are also extremely scraped up! She does not seem to have "in-toes" or anything, she just trips a lot, especially when she runs. No idea on the "normalcy" of it.

Very rarely, but like others, she's on the more cautious side...and she's very agile b/c she's used to maneuvering around a million toys on the floor in our small house

ETA: I'm sure Emma is just fine, but I agree, a phone call would help ease your mind

My friend is having trouble w/ her ds knees - they look ackward...anyway, there are only a few orthapedic specialists on LI that specialize in toddlers, so you might want to call your doc and try to get an apt w/ one - it will probably not be for a while and if it does get better, you can cancel the appt, but if it doesn't you'll have an appt.

Not really ever in the house, just in the grass or sadly, on the concrete a couple of times.

DD is always running but really only falls when she runs on carpet. I think her shoes get stuck under her. It doesn't seem out of the ordinary for kids to fall alot of this age though esp if they're not too cautious.

i brought my dd in to an orthopedist last summer when she was intoeing and falling a lot. He said to use better brand shoes and that in a year from then she would be knock kneed.... and now she is! Her foot does still go in a little bit at the end of the day when she is tierd, and we find that at that point she gets a little clumsy. Hopefully she will outgrow it all.

Not that often. The only reason he really falls now is if he isnt watching where is he going and trips over something or if he runs in the kitchen on the wood floors with socks on, that kind of thing.

Rarely in the house but trips a lot more outside (grass and sidewalk). I hold his hand on sidewalks so it's not a bad fall. His shorts are also way too long on his short legs so we don't have scrapped knees so far.

We are "practicing" walking with shoes a lot recently. I realized he is either bare foot at home or with shoes outside but but mostly in the stroller. So we are walking a lot more with shoes and outside.

All the time- her knees are cut up and bruised. I don't think she has issues, she's just a fast speed little toddler and I think sometimes she forgets to pick up her feet.

eta: 9 out of 10 times she falls outside vs inside. Her toes do point in a little but I don't think it's the problem.

Not often. DS is very steady when he walks and runs.
