How much would you spend

on a baby shower gift for a new friend that you've known for about 5 months? We became friends through a mutual friend, and now we do a potluck with some other girls every 2 weeks. Is $40 enough?

yes. I'd probably spend less than that, to be honest.

Re: How much would you spend

I had a similar situation and spent around $50.
That's usually my minimum...

$50 really? Some people give that much to their best friend's and family, I think $30-40 is more than enough for a friend like that.

Re: How much would you spend

I'd say anywhere between $30-$45.

There's just something about $50 that pushes it into the "too much" catagory for me. Chat Icon

That's what I was thinking. I was going to get her the lamp she registered for, and something else, but it was over $50 total and I thought that was too much. But I just wanted to see what everyone else thought. Thanks! I got her this:

Re: How much would you spend

I always overspend so you can't go by me.

I think $40 sounds good if you can find something you really like off of her registry for that amount. I would bump it to 50 if you go the gift card route.
