How much would you charge?
I’m in a predicament...I am in the process of trying to sell some items. I was in a pipe and drum band for years. I am no longer interested in being in the band or playing the snare for several reasons. So, in 2002 I purchased a $675 snare drum and harness. I also have a $35 drum case, a $55 belt, $45 buckle, $25 stick bag, $40 pouch, and $30 bottle holder (all very specific for pipe and drum bands). All in total-$905. I got many years use out of these items. But now I want to sell. What would a reasonable (but not too low) price be to sell these items? Is $500-$525 too low? I don’t want to be a sucker. Thanks!

I know nothing about drums, but why don’t you have a look on Ebay and find out what other people are charging? I always do that when I sell something.

Re: How much would you charge?
My husband and I have sold a lot of gear on eBay and Craigslist (he’s a guitarist and I’m a drummer) I actually know exactly what type of setup you’re talking about because back in the day, I played in a pipes and drums band :)
Do your research - check both eBay and craigslist for this and see what others are charging for ones of similar age and condition and price it from there.
Listing on eBay means you’ll most likely have to ship but you won’t have people asking you to lower your price or asking for you to sell only certain pieces (rather than the whole setup) However, some people are asses and will file an eBay claim without warrant and the seller gets screwed.
Listing on Craigslist means you’ll have to have the person over to your place or meet in a public area, and most people on Craigslist will try to negotiate you down so if you are firm on the price, say so in your listing and in all communication with a prospective buyer. Though truly all of the folks I’ve met who try to negotiate are only looking for like $20-30 less than the listed price so they feel like they got a bargain. I do it too when I buy on there. I had a guy throw in a couple of cymbals because he thought it was cool that I was a female drummer and then I took them and sold them to a shop for credit toward a cymbal I really wanted. F THE PATRIARCHY hahaha. Also people on Craigslist will ask you if you’re willing to sell certain pieces instead of a whole set (even if you list it as a set/not selling pieces, they will still ask)

Re: How much would you charge?
Only you and and people interested in it really know wht it is worth.
Check craigslist and Ebay, also you can check some music stores and see what they would pay.
Some things depreciate hard in value and others hold it rather nicely. I'm into cameras and cars.
Car "upgrades" customization stuff, if you uninstall and sell it used you end up at 30-50% of the value depending on condition.
Cameras- Camera bodies depreciate rather heavily too. Its technology, if you bought on the front end at a high price, you take a bath, if you bought after some discounting, you're in that 50% range, depending on holding period. Lenses stay unupdated for many years and you can get 50-80% of your money back depending on the lens and how prices have gone since you bought it. Shotguns- more like 80-100% of value as things get more expensive every year and your cost is significantly lower than the current one going new.
I'd also start by pricing out what you have new today. Pricing could have gone up significantly over the years, or vice versa.
