How much training does it take to become a police officer?
I read a statistic that seemed very low.
On average, academy training programs included 761 hours of classroom training (about 19 weeks). A third of academies had an additional mandatory field training component with an average length of 453 hours.

I feel like everyone I knew that became a cop did a hell of a lot more than that??

My DH was in the academy I think for 6 months.

My brother is in the police academy now, he started in July and will graduate in February

DH did 6 months in the NYPD academy.
