"Birth & Death Certificates are not maintained by the County Clerk's Office, but rather the municipality in which the event took place: the towns, two cities and the incorporated villages. For example, if the event occurred in Glen Cove, you would contact the Clerk's office in the City of Glen Cove. The County Clerk's Notary department can authenticate Birth & Death certificates for a $5.00 fee.

Additionally, copies of birth and death certificates may be ordered directly from the New York State Department of Health Vital Records Section. "
