Ok, so as you all know we will be moving into our new place in the beginning of March.
The owners are leaving all the curtains and fixtures. She has custom made vertical blinds in the living room which are great except and cost over 3K, but they have fabric and its a very light blue. I personally don't care for light blue. I would love to paint them red/burgandy (which is the color scheme we want). I think that would look amazing with the tan/taupe walls, our beige couches and red pillows.

Anyhow, on HGTV I found instructions on how to paint fabric blinds. It does seem easy, but again they are professional and I am certainly not. Do you think its worth trying? I would rather have the blue ones instead of crappy looking red ones. Should I still try it?

I always find great tips on HGTV, but have any of you girls followed them?

No, I do not want to get rid of them. Thats the point of the question. I certainly don't have the money to spend 3K on window treatments.

I trust HGTV - I just don't trust myself. Maybe look around at quick alternatives JIC. I would bet that you could find something cheeper if you looked around but be prepared in case something goes wrong. I would be aprehensive as well.....

I'm not sure. MIL had an idea that I could purchase the material (ie fabric) and put it over each individual blind. I may try this because it would be permanent. I could just tape it and see how it looks and if it looks ok, then I could glue it on. Its fabric over fabric. Maybe I'll try that before I think about painting.
