How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
For about a year or so - we've always paid $15.00 and ill give her a $5.00 tip - so together we give our hairdresser her $20.00. Its a neighborhood place - not a fancy salon or anything like that. I thought that was a bit much - but we don't cut it often - so it wasn't that big of a deal.
Well today - she told me the haircut cost $20.00 - I was shocked, she said $15.00 is no longer a sufficient cost for a child's haircut. My daughter has curly long hair and she layered it and always cuts it nicely - but we aren't in there more than 10 minutes. This time I gave her $20.00, no tip and walked out.
Am i being ridiculous that $20.00 is a bit much for a 3 year old's haircut. My husband doesn't even pay that much for a haircut - tip and all.
What do you ladies pay for your daughters?? I think next time I may have to attempt to trim her hair myself.

Re: How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
For DS's first few haircuts I took him to Zippity Doo's which was $28 for a kids haircut I thought that was insane.
Now I take him to a barber and it is still $11 plus tip which I think is still kind of pricey for a 2 yr. old boy's haircut. So with tip it comes out to $15.

Re: How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
Ava hasn't had her first haircut yet But she's getting it in a couple of weeks and it will be by the girl who cuts my hair and will cost 40 bucks. Could I take her somewhere cheaper? Absolutely, but I trust the girl who cuts my hair and I want something funky, so I'll pay the money. I'm not the type to take her for a haircut every few weeks, so it'll probably be twice a year. I think 20 bucks is totally reasonable, especially if it came out nice.

We take DS to a local hairdresser. With a coupon and tip, it comes to $10. They don't differentiate between boys and girls, so I'm assuming that when we take DD, it will be the same price.

Nothing, I cut all my kids' hair. I use the buzzer on the boys and my DD's hair is so simple to trim. It is so easy to do as long as you have sharp scissors.

DS is years from needing a haircut, but I plan on bringing him to Lemon Tree or Headcutters. Its cheap.
I think if she has long hair and layering it, $20 isn't that bad.

Re: How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
In the city it is 34.00 which is the norm. Since ds had curly hair, I don't want a barber to butcher it. I cringe when I pay.....

Re: How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
I am a hairdresser and I currently work from home(I have a beautiful hair studio, not in my kitchen ) I charge $10 for a child's haircut. When I worked in the salon up unitl last year, I believe it was about $15.

Re: How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
$10 at a local barber shop. They have a tiny "kiddie area" in the back (2 chairs that are Jeeps and a tiny TV where they play Thomas the Train) ...good enough for me!
ETS: Ooooopppsssss.....I thought your title said DC...this was for DS! For DD, well, I'll let ya know in about a year! LOL

It's the barber shop in the CVS shopping center on Larkfield Rd. in E. Npt.
We always ask for David... he is so patient.
They also have lollipops for the kids.
My son was a hysterical mess for his first haircut (sitting with me in a regular chair), now he watches Thomas, has a lolli and thinks nothing of it.
Oh, and I think if you go Mon-Thursday it's a couple of dollars cheaper
DD goes to Supercuts when I get a coupon.

Re: How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
waaaaaaaaay too much. $28 pre-tip, Curley-Qs in Syosset. It's the only place that is patient with DS who screams the entire time.
DH took him to a barber once. It was crooked and they were getting annoyed that he wouldn't stop screaming. So what was $10 + tip cut ended up being $20 because we felt so bad.

Re: How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
DS is using the same barber (all ladies there) as DH. $7 plus i give $3 tip. not bad. i take DS about every 2 months.
he's pretty good about sitting still but sometimes when he does move, other ladies come over and try to entertain so he doesn't move.

Re: How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
We haven't taken him yet--I think he has had 3 haircuts so far, DS did two, I did one. DS does a great job though, so we'll probably leave it that way till he's older.
$20 doesn't sound bad for layering--I think you can get cheaper, but they may not be as careful

Re: How much do you pay for DD Haircut?
We've been doing DS's hair at home with a kit we got from Target and the kit has paid for itself already! When he gets older, I'll let him go to a barber with DH.
