How much do newborns eat?
How much are newborns supposed to eat?
Since DD is still in the NICU at the hospital...she has been taking her formula well. She is up to 45 cc's, which I think is about 1.5 oz. She is 8 days old.
What is the norm? I'm trying to guesstimate when she will get to a level of when they might consider releasing her...because we are growing impatient and want our DD to come home.

I think that is a good amount.
I think Alison was drinking 2 oz when we brought her home, and I think that was alot.

It depends on alot of things really. Is she gaining weight....most NICU staffs are really good at staying on top of that. How much does she weigh?you are right, 45 cc is equal to 1.5 ounces. is she eating by mouth or NGtube? a full term baby usually takes 3 ounces every 3 hours...on average one ounce every 45 minutes or so. hope this helps. good luck!

Thanks! She is eating by mouth...every 3 hours. She weighs 3lbs 14.4 oz as of last night...they said that 1/2 oz each day is what she is expected to gain.
Trying to figure out when she might get to come home..since of course, they can't give me an answer

Syd was taking 3 oz at a feeding when she was born, 3 weeks early and 7#. Any new pics coming??

Haven't taken any the last 2 days...with Rachel being home, we have been going back and forth separately, because she can't come in and can only sit in the waiting room. Will try to get some more new ones this week.
