how many naps (5-7 month old)?

my ds was taking 2 naps a day (1 -
2 1/2 hours each) about every 3 hours.

recently he's been taking 3-4 naps a day (30 min-2 hours each) every 2/12 hours.

i'm wondering if he's sleeping too much...

Re: how many naps (5-7 month old)?

My DS drifts into 1/2 hr naps all day (usually after about 2 hrs of wake time)

I have read that even the slightest awake time for them is a lot of stimulation. I dont think he is sleeping too much...that is when their brains and bodies grow and rest.

God I wish I was so lucky! DD isn't napping at all lately. One week shy of 5 months and she'll take a nap anywhere from 8-9 for 30 min -1 hr. Then another one around noon or 1 for 30 min- 1hr then MAYBE another one around 3 or 4. Bath starts at 6 and then asleep by 8.

My Ds does exactly the same, and so many people tell me that he should be sleeping for longer periods of time, but you know what each baby is different.

Jayden takes 3 naps when he's home with me. The morning and late afternoon nap are usually 1-1.5 hours, while the mid-afternoon nap is usally 2 hours.

When he's with my MIL or DH, some how he only takes cat naps. They always complain about how he doesn't sleep... I have no problems.

she doesn't seem to be a napper (unlike momma), but DD does the drifting-off for half an hour about 2-3 times a day. Sometimes she has a 2 hour nap right after she wakes around 6 am....

Re: how many naps (5-7 month old)?

Ds napped 3 times a day at that age. He would wake at 7am, be back down by 9am, go down again around 12:30, and then again around 4pm. he would usually only nap 30min-1hr each time- once in a while for a little longer.
How is your DC sleeping at night?

Re: how many naps (5-7 month old)?

DS is 6.5 months. At home he takes 3 solid naps a day from 1-2 hours long. At daycare, with so much going on, everyday is different. He'll usually get in a morning nap at home before DH drops him off and then it's either 2 little naps or one small and one big nap, or maybe just one big nap....That's why they say he's fussy at daycare and I have no problem at home--he doesn't nap well there!
PS Healthy Sleep Habits Happy CHild I believe says that any nap under 45min is not really restorative...I dunno about that, but I think that's what he says.
